Breakletics HIIT the BeatDance-based HIIT fitness app

Breakdance moves meet interval training. We rebuilt the app from scratch so it stays stable, sells subscriptions and can grow.

Overview01

November 1, 20244 min read

Breakletics had an audience and a first app that once hit 100,000 downloads, then aged out of the stores. We rebuilt HIIT the Beat on FlutterFlow in 7–8 weeks of active development: the flow users already knew, a 10,000-video library, subscriptions and an admin panel, launched without a single crash.

At a glance02

The project at a glance

Challenge

The old app was so brittle that fixing one screen broke another. Reviving it wasn't realistic, and a months-long rebuild wasn't an option either.

Solution

A clean rebuild on FlutterFlow: seasons of workouts by level, warm-ups and cool-downs, points, subscriptions via RevenueCat and a desktop admin panel for content.

Result

Released three months after the idea. In the first month: 1,065 registrations, zero crashes and zero account deletions.

The client

Fitness built on breakdance

Peter Sowinski is a professional breakdancer, German champion and the founder of Breakletics, a workout method that blends breakdance moves with high-intensity interval training. The brand already had a loyal audience. What it needed was an app that could carry the business forward.

The challenge

An app that had already died once

Peter's first home-fitness app reached 100,000 downloads, then aged and was pulled from the stores. The goal wasn't a v2 but a foundation: stable across updates, familiar to existing users, ready for subscriptions and new markets, and live fast as a working product.

  • Brittle architecture

Changing one screen broke another, so every fix created new bugs.

  • No room for a long build

A development cycle of six months or more would have cost the audience's momentum.

  • Monetisation missing

Subscriptions needed a content and progress logic behind them, not just a paywall.

Discovery & UX

Research first, screens second

We studied the old app and how people really used it. The core audience: women and teenagers, with Germany, the US and Japan as key markets. They already knew the product, so the task was a better app, not a new pitch.

One user flow from sign-up to paywall

We mapped the whole path: sign-in, quick questions, onboarding, picking a level, then warm-up, workout and cool-down. It shows where the paywall sits and how users resume where they stopped.

Wireframes for every key screen

Home, catalogue, season, workout steps, video player, completion, additionals, premium and profile were first drawn in grey, so the structure was agreed before any colour was chosen.

The app for athletes

A dark interface with the brand's neon yellow as the action colour: energetic, like the workouts themselves.

Onboarding and a home screen that motivates

A short guided tour explains the app step by step. Home then shows total points, a one-tap “Start next workout” and the weekly live Workout Jam for Plusmembers, so the next action is always obvious.

Seasons, levels and a clear order

Workouts are grouped into seasons by level: Beginner, Advanced, Expert and Godmode. Every workout follows the same steps: warm-up, video workout, cool-down. Free workouts are marked, the rest unlock with a subscription.

Warm-ups and cool-downs on demand

A separate library of short sessions, a few minutes each. Inside a workout, users pick one of the suggested warm-ups from a bottom sheet or confirm they did their own.

Profile, plans and personal data

The profile gathers the Plusmember upgrade, the merch shop and an intro video. Plans are managed in-app with a free trial, and goal, date of birth and body data lay the ground for personalisation.

The admin panel for the team

Content and users are managed on desktop, without developers: seasons, exercises, warm-ups, Zoom jams, promo codes and the home banner.

Users and export for email marketing

A searchable user table with progress, body data, status and Plusmember flag. One click exports the list to Excel for email campaigns.

Seasons filtered by level

All seasons in one list with language and number of workouts. Filters by level keep the catalogue manageable as it grows.

Editing a workout

Order, season, cover, points and the free flag on one form, with English and German content side by side.

Warm-ups with view counts

Warm-ups and cool-downs have their own list with duration, views and access type, so the team sees which sessions people actually use.

Tech stack

Why FlutterFlow

Speed and stability mattered more than anything. FlutterFlow let a small team ship iOS and Android from one codebase in weeks, on a clean architecture instead of legacy code.

  • FlutterFlow

iOS and Android apps from one Flutter codebase.

  • RevenueCat

    Subscription plans for 1, 3, 6 and 12 months.

  • REST API

Backend integration for content and progress.

  • Firebase & Mux

Cover storage and video delivery for the workout library.

Results

A relaunch that held from day one

The app went live three months after the idea and did what the old one never managed: it stayed stable.

  • 1,065 registrations in the first month.
  • Zero crashes and zero account deletions in month one.
  • 10,000 workout videos in German and English, ready from launch.

Roadmap

What's next

Alongside the app we built a landing page that now serves as the entry point for new users.

  • Progress tracking built out for gamification
  • Anthropometric data for segmentation and personalised offers
  • Japanese localisation
  • A web app version for TV screens
  • A full multi-page website
