Overview01

September 30, 20264 min read

For the SAP Partner Summit for EMEA and MEE, an SAP partner event in Berlin in November 2025, we built a networking app. Every attendee gets an NFC wristband with a personal profile link. A tap or QR scan saves a contact; staff run everything from a web admin panel.

Tasks

  1. 1Link NFC wristbands to attendee profiles at check-in
  2. 2Contact exchange via NFC tap and QR scan
  3. 3Contact list with export to CSV and vCard
  4. 4Admin panel for participants, wristbands and analytics
  5. 5Activity log and sync with the client's CRM

The project at a glance

Challenge

At a partner summit, networking is the point, yet contacts get lost between business cards, badge photos and half-remembered names.

Solution

A mobile-first web app for attendees with NFC and QR contact exchange and CSV/vCard export, plus an admin panel for wristbands, participants, analytics and a CRM sync.

Result

One system covers the event from check-in to follow-up: staff assign wristbands, attendees collect contacts, and the organiser sees how the room networked.

  • 2

ways to exchange contacts: NFC wristband and QR code

  • 2

interfaces: attendee app and web admin panel

  • 5

admin modules: dashboard, participants, wristbands, analytics, logs

  • 2

export formats for saved contacts: CSV and vCard

The product

Networking for an SAP partner event

The SAP Partner Summit for EMEA and MEE brought partners together in Berlin on 3–4 November 2025 under the motto “Embracing the future. Evolving together.” The app was built for this one event: attendees exchange contacts, organisers keep control of access and data.

The challenge

Contacts that don't survive the coffee break

  • Scattered contacts

Business cards, photos of badges and LinkedIn searches end up in different places.

  • No follow-up

After the event nobody remembers who they talked to, or which company they were from.

  • No overview for organisers

Without data, the organiser can't tell whether networking actually happened.

Discovery & UX

From wristband to CRM

One architecture for devices, app and CRM

At check-in an NFC writer puts a personal profile URL on each wristband. Attendees open it on their iOS or Android device in a mobile-first Next.js web app. The admin panel works on the same Supabase backend (Postgres, Auth, Storage), which also feeds the client's CRM.

Two user flows

Attendees go from sign-in and wristband assignment to scanning, contacts and profile editing, including a broken wristband. Admins get the user list, NFC assignment with success and error states, and analytics with export.

Tap, scan, connect

Your QR code and two scan buttons

The home screen shows the attendee's own QR code, name, role and company, with a VIP label where it applies. Scan NFC reads another person's wristband, Scan QR opens the camera. No typing, no business cards.

Contacts you can take home

New connections appear under “Recently added you” to accept or dismiss. The list is searchable and alphabetical. One tap exports all contacts as CSV or vCard, ready for a CRM or the address book.

A profile worth sharing

Name, job title, company, phone and email, plus LinkedIn, X, Xing, Facebook and a website. The attendee decides what others receive when they scan, and can edit or delete the profile at any time.

Onboarding in four steps

A start page explains the idea and the steps: scan the QR code, open the app, enter your email and sign in via the link. Access runs on a verification link, so there is no password to forget.

The control room for event staff

Dashboard with a live activity feed

Registered participants, active users and assigned wristbands at a glance, plus a feed of recent actions: CRM syncs, wristbands assigned or removed.

Participant records

Staff edit details, social networks and contacts per participant, set the status and a badge label such as VIP. Phone numbers are validated in E.164 format so the data arrives in the CRM clean.

Wristband management

Each NFC wristband has a UID, an event, an assigned person and a profile link. Staff filter by status, see how many bands are still available and unassign or delete them in bulk.

Networking analytics

Contact exchanges, network density and average connections per participant, plus a ranking of top networkers by total contacts, activity and demand.

Activity logs

Every action is recorded with timestamp, actor and target, filterable by action type, event and date. The audit trail for “who unassigned this wristband?”

Tech stack

A web stack for a one-off event

Attendees open the app via their wristband link in the browser, so nobody has to install anything from a store for a two-day event.

  • Next.js

Mobile-first attendee app and the admin panel.

  • Supabase

Postgres, Auth and Storage in one backend.

  • NFC wristbands

Written at check-in with a personal profile URL.

  • CRM sync

Participant data flows into the client's CRM.

Results

Networking the organiser can see

Attendees leave with an exportable contact list instead of business cards. Organisers see participants, wristbands and networking activity in one place.

  • Contact exchange in one tap or scan, via NFC wristband or QR code.
  • Saved contacts leave the event as CSV or vCard.
  • Wristbands, participants and a full activity log in one admin panel with CRM sync.
