KissmetLocal dating app
Discover compatible people nearby through shared interests, values and relationship preferences
Kissmet is a dating app for discovering compatible people nearby through shared interests, values and relationship preferences. We designed and developed the Flutter mobile experience with Supabase for data and accounts, then built a Next.js landing page that explains the product and leads visitors to the waitlist.
What we did
Tasks
- 1Turn values, interests and written answers into a structured profile flow
- 2Explain compatibility clearly on discovery cards
- 3Support nearby discovery through cards, a map and search filters
- 4Connect likes, requests, match confirmation and private chat
- 5Organise contacts, requests and saved or missed profiles
- 6Present the concept publicly and collect waitlist interest
The project at a glance
Challenge
Turn the idea of meaningful local connections into a complete journey, from building a useful profile to finding someone nearby and starting a conversation without another endless swipe feed.
Solution
Profiles built around written answers, values and interests; compatibility-led discovery on cards and a map; mutual requests before chat; and a landing page that explains the same product logic.
Result
A connected dating product with profile setup, nearby discovery, requests, matches, conversations and preferences, supported by a promotional website and waitlist journey.

The product
Dating built around compatibility and proximity
Kissmet brings profile discovery, mutual requests and messaging into one mobile journey. Instead of relying on photos alone, profiles explain interests, values, lifestyle and relationship preferences. Location keeps discovery close to everyday life, while compatibility scores show why a person may be relevant before either side starts a conversation.
The goal
From a meaningful profile to a real conversation
The product had to make compatibility understandable, support discovery nearby and keep the transition from interest to contact straightforward. The same idea also needed a public explanation: a website that introduces local dating without endless swiping and gives visitors a clear next step through the waitlist.
More than photos
Written answers, shared values and interests give every profile context before a decision.
Nearby by design
Cards and a map focus discovery on compatible people within an adjustable area.
Mutual first
A request becomes a match only after acceptance, creating a direct and understandable route to chat.
Design
One visual system for profiles, discovery and conversation
The app and landing page share blue accents, light backgrounds, rounded components and a direct typographic hierarchy. The layouts prioritise profile descriptions, compatibility information and conversation actions, while photography supports the product without replacing the written detail that makes matching useful.
Onboarding
Profile setup that explains compatibility
Users write a biography, answer questions about values and choose interests across several categories. Photos are requested for verification, while the discovery card stays focused on written information. Progress indicators turn a longer setup into a sequence of clear, manageable steps.

Discovery
A small set of matches with reasons to connect
Discovery shows nearby profiles with a compatibility percentage, distance, introduction and shared values. Users can decline, save or like a profile and add a short conversation starter. When the interest is mutual, Kissmet confirms the match and opens a direct path to chat.

Map and filters
Nearby discovery with adjustable criteria
The map turns location into a discovery tool instead of a static profile field. A compact filter panel adjusts who appears, the age range and the type of connection. The controls stay close to the map so users can update their criteria without leaving the flow.

Messages
Conversation begins after a clear mutual signal
The message area combines a conversation list with individual chats, unread states and recent activity. Request and acceptance markers preserve the context in which two people connected. Inside the conversation, users exchange text and can share a meeting location through a map card.

Connections
Contacts, requests and saved profiles stay organised
Connections separates active contacts, incoming and outgoing requests, and saved or missed profiles. Search helps users return to a person, while the detailed profile preserves interests, values and written answers. This keeps discovery decisions available after the first card view.

Profile
Preferences remain editable as needs change
The personal area combines account details, biography and prompts, plan management and settings. Users can update their values or retake the questionnaire, then adjust gender, age range and the kind of connection they want. Discovery can evolve without rebuilding the profile from scratch.

Landing page
The same product story on the web
A Next.js landing page built around the local promise
The website carries the blue visual language into a desktop layout with photography and product previews. Its opening message positions Kissmet as local dating without endless swiping, then moves visitors toward the waitlist while keeping the mobile experience visible beside the promise.

Product benefits explained through real screens
Feature sections connect shared values, verified profiles and nearby discovery to screens from the app. A final positioning section contrasts local, compatible connections with endless feeds, giving visitors a concise reason to join before the public launch.

Development & testing
One journey across Flutter, Supabase and Next.js
We developed the mobile application in Flutter and used Supabase for backend data and account functionality. Implementation connected onboarding, profile information, discovery, requests and messaging into a continuous journey. The promotional website was built in Next.js using the same design direction.
Testing concentrated on the paths that connect those parts:
- Profile forms, required fields and saved values
- Discovery criteria, compatibility details and request states
- Match confirmation and the transition into messaging
- Saved preferences and connection management
- Responsive presentation across the landing page
Result
A complete route from discovery to conversation
Kissmet combines profile depth, local discovery and mutual requests in one mobile product. Users can understand why a profile fits, manage interest without losing context and continue a confirmed connection in chat. The landing page presents the same approach publicly and turns early interest into waitlist signups.
