WellupWellness app for nutrition and daily habits
Meals, water, steps and weight in one daily view. Personal goals, quick logging and small wins keep users coming back every day.
Wellup is a wellness app for training and nutrition routines, built around motivation and daily habits. It brings meals, water, steps, weight and body metrics into one daily view, adds recipes and an AI assistant, and rewards consistency with achievements. A separate mode supports people before and after bariatric surgery.
What we did
Tasks
- 1Map the full product structure in a sitemap
- 2Design a goal-based onboarding with a personal plan
- 3Make daily logging possible in a few taps
- 4Turn progress into diaries, charts and achievements
- 5Add a dedicated mode for bariatric patients
The project at a glance
Challenge
Healthy routines break down when tracking is spread across apps, logging takes too long and progress stays invisible.
Solution
One app with a daily health dashboard, one-tap entries, diaries with charts, recipes with portion calculation, an AI assistant, achievements and a bariatric mode.
Result
A complete product concept, from information architecture and wireframes to a finished UI for every key flow.
13
modules in the sitemap, from onboarding to bariatrics
6
quick-entry types: meal, water, steps, activity, weight, indicator
4
goals to choose at onboarding
25
achievements to unlock in the profile
The product
A wellness app built around daily habits
Wellup is aimed at people in Germany who want to eat better, move more and stick with it. Instead of a strict diet plan, the app works with small daily goals: enough water, enough steps, balanced macros, and a visible streak across the week.
The challenge
Why good intentions fade
Most people know what healthy habits look like. The hard part is keeping them up every day, so the product had to make routine tracking effortless and progress motivating.
Scattered tracking
Food, water, steps and weight usually live in different apps and notes.
Logging friction
If an entry takes more than a few seconds, people stop making it.
Invisible progress
Without goals and small wins, motivation drops after the first weeks.
Discovery & UX
Structure first, colour later
One sitemap for the whole product
We mapped every module and its screens before designing: onboarding, sign-in, main screen, diaries, assistant, recipes, consultations, subscription, profile, notifications, settings, statistics and the bariatrics section. This kept a feature-rich app consistent and showed early where flows overlap.

Grey wireframes for every key flow
Phone login with an SMS code, goal selection, the personal plan, the health screen, food log, indicator entry, statistics, the assistant chat and the profile were first built in grey. Changes at this stage take minutes, not sprints.

Mobile app
The daily companion
A fresh green interface with soft cards and large numbers. A floating bar with a “+” button and the assistant is always within reach.
Onboarding that ends with a plan
Users pick a goal (lose weight, maintain weight, prepare for bariatric surgery or adapt after it) and their activity level. The app then shows a target date and daily limits for proteins, fats, carbohydrates, water and calories, based on a safe calorie deficit.

Today at a glance
The health screen shows the week as a streak, calories eaten, steps, macros, meals, water and activity, plus how many daily goals are reached. The Indicators tab tracks weight against the goal and metrics such as waist size, caffeine or blood pressure.

Logging in seconds
Each entry opens as a short bottom sheet. Water comes with glass presets (1 glass = 250 ml), steps with ready values, and anything from 8,000 steps also counts as physical activity automatically.

Diaries that show progress
Water and weight diaries turn entries into charts by week, month or year, with the weight goal drawn as a line. The food diary lists every meal with calories and macros and has a separate tab for recommendations.

Recipes with portion maths
Daily recipe recommendations with nutrition values, favourites and a detailed recipe page. The portion calculator converts calories and macros for a small, standard or big serving and adds it to the food diary in one tap.

An assistant that knows your routine
The assistant accepts text or voice and offers quick actions for every entry and diary. It also suggests entries based on habits, for example “Add 300 g of oatmeal and 1 glass of tea? Usually you eat this at this time.”

Motivation built in
The profile collects achievements, photo results and the PRO subscription. Notifications explain the why behind a nudge, such as why another glass of water matters, and settings let users switch the bariatrics section on or off.

A mode for bariatric patients
With bariatrics enabled, the dashboard counts down the days to surgery and switches to stricter limits. After surgery, the app guides through adaptation stages such as liquids and protein mixtures and asks daily how the patient feels.

Results
From an idea to a complete product design
Wellup now has a clear structure and a finished interface for every key scenario, from the first question in onboarding to the daily check-in after surgery.
- 13 modules mapped in one sitemap before the first screen was drawn.
- Six entry types that each fit into a single short sheet.
- Two modes in one app: everyday wellness and bariatric support.
